Online Ecstatic Dance!

Dance, shake, release, express and ground. Connecting to others socially while we distance for safety

• HOW •

We will use a video conferencing software called Zoom, we can see each other on the screen and I will play a mix of music while guiding you at home. This requires space for you to dance, either your lounge, bedroom, kitchen or even the garden. Then you will need adequate sound, your computer or phone speakers aren't enough, you will need a good pair of speakers or some blue tooth head phones. Lighting is important too we want to see you and you us so we can connect, why not light some incense or turn on the diffuser too, set the mood right it all helps. The internet gets heavy usage in the evenings so we suggest turning everything off that could be using your wifi, this reduces any interruptions to the sound.

• WHEN •

We start at 7:30 pm but will be available from 7pm to nut out any connection issues and also familiarize your self with the Zoom platform, it is also a great time to warm up, stretch and settle into the mood for dancing.

• What else •

This will be very different to dancing in a group in a hall, we are in isolation after all. It may take a little getting used to and will require you to make an effort, stay focused and commit to this way of dancing. Setting up your space makes a difference, the sound needs to be good, the lighting affects your mood as does aroma and space. Create a mini dance floor, make it special.

Strictly no photos, drugs, alcohol, smoking ot intoxicants, this is a dance meditation that will have you high on life.

There are no steps to follow, If you find yourself lost or not knowing what to do try these...

Stay - As with any meditation practice, distractions happen – expect them. Just gently bring your attention back to movement.

Pace yourself - No matter what the rest of the group are doing, listen to your body. If you relax in the beat, like a swimmer treading water, you’ll refuel.

Stretch yourself - If you always keep to yourself, include someone else in your dance(on screen)

Slow down. Speed up. Experiment. Break a habit. Imitate somebody and see how it feels. Create your own remix of others' moves.

It’s not about the music - The teacher uses music to catalyze movement. Love it or hate it, how you respond is up to you. Use everything as fuel for your dance.

Don't give up - We all hit patches of fatigue, boredom, shyness, frustration, or discomfort. Even if you can only wiggle a finger or nod your head to the beat, stay with it until something changes. Most often, it will.

Enjoy yourself excessive seriousness will slow you down.

No right or wrong and no set moves, open up to a world of possibilities beyond your imagination, with you, the dance floor and great music!

Zoom is the platform we will be using similar to skype but with a lot more functionality. You will need to download and install it so you can access the dance online.

The dance begins at 7:30pm and we will dance until 9:00pm, Once you have booked the link to join the online dance will be emailed to you.

No entry after 7:45pm, the zoom room opens at 7:00 and locks so no new participants can not join after 7:45, we will be together uninterrupted from then.
